Infrastructure Upgrades Completed Ahead of Schedule, Benefit Local Grid
Rayville, La. — Entergy Louisiana has completed a major infrastructure upgrade to support the construction of Meta’s new data center in Richland Parish, delivering 10 megawatts of power to the tech giant’s facility while improving service reliability for the broader community.
The project was finished ahead of schedule and is part of Entergy’s long-term commitment to strengthen Louisiana’s electric grid and support economic development in northeast Louisiana.
“This project reflects the kind of forward-thinking investment that drives growth in our communities,” said Phillip May, President and CEO of Entergy Louisiana. “Not only are we supporting one of the world’s leading technology companies, but we’re also strengthening the grid for our existing customers and creating economic opportunities across the region.”
Project Highlights:
- Improved Reliability: Upgrades to a key distribution line enhance electric service for local customers and help the system better withstand outages and severe weather.
- Economic Impact: Approximately $3 million has been paid to Louisiana-based contractors, and $150,000 to local landowners for land rights during construction.
- Community Benefit: The project includes nearly five miles of new electric lines and advanced voltage regulation equipment, ensuring long-term stability and capacity for growth.
The project brought together a team of local engineers and construction firms including Chain Electric Company (West Monroe), Hunt, Guillot and Associates (Ruston), and RC Boring (Cottonport).
“Projects of this magnitude bring benefits to all customers, including families, small businesses, and communities throughout northeast Louisiana,” May added. “We’re building the future of energy, and we’re doing it in a way that lifts up everyone.”
