SHREVEPORT — The Community Foundation of North Louisiana has named photographer Debra Roberson as the 2025 recipient of the G. Scott Griffin Award, which honors local artists who contribute to the community through their work while overcoming adversity.
Roberson, an IT professional who began her photography career in 2020, has exhibited her work in several regional shows. Her recognition includes the Critic’s Choice Award in Visual Arts at the Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Critical Mass X exhibition in 2022.
The annual award is named for G. Scott Griffin, a multidisciplinary artist whose work spanned music, photography, and film. Despite a visual impairment, Griffin pursued a career in the arts and became known for inviting audiences to experience discovery through his perspective.
Roberson, who overcame early hardships before earning degrees from Dartmouth College and Wheaton College, was selected by a committee convened by the foundation.
The Griffin Fund was established at the Community Foundation to honor artists who embody Griffin’s persistence and passion. More information about the award is available at cfnla.org.
