BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier Chamber of Commerce hosted its Clean Biz Day on Sept. 12, bringing together local organizations to clean and beautify the outdoor areas around their businesses.
Participants included Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Bobby L. Greene Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, the Bossier Parish Police Jury, Bossier Parish Community College and Robert Franklin, State Farm Agent. Activities ranged from pulling weeds and pruning trees to pressure washing, refreshing flower beds and picking up litter.
“It’s great to see our members show pride in their community and businesses,” said Lisa Johnson, president and CEO of the Bossier Chamber. “By doing our part and keeping our businesses litter-free, we are giving a great first impression to patrons and visitors while positively impacting our state’s economic development efforts. A clean Louisiana is good for business.”
Clean Biz Day is part of Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Clean Biz Partnership program, which encourages businesses to adopt daily litter-prevention practices such as maintaining clean parking lots, placing trash receptacles near storefronts and managing dumpster areas.
A survey conducted by Keep Louisiana Beautiful found that 89 percent of respondents believe litter negatively affects businesses by decreasing revenues.
