WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced that Centenary College will receive $10 million in federal funding to support renovations to the School of Health Sciences. The investment is part of nearly $25 million in Congressionally Directed Spending secured by Cassidy in the Fiscal Year 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.
The renovations will enhance Centenary’s ability to prepare students for careers in health care, addressing workforce needs in Louisiana and beyond.
“It is common sense. Being healthy is better than being sick. I want everyone in Louisiana to win more and be able to work better to improve their life and the life of their family. Investing tax dollars into making this happen is a good investment,” Cassidy said.
The funding for Centenary is part of a broader package that includes:
- $4.035 million for Natchitoches Regional Medical Center to purchase new medical equipment
- $4 million for Xavier University for construction and renovations to its medical school
- $4 million for Jackson Parish Hospital to build a new Rural Health Clinic
- $2.85 million for Loyola College of Nursing and Health to support nursing education programs
This latest round of appropriations brings Cassidy’s total secured funding for Louisiana in FY2026 to more than $144 million, with additional announcements expected in the coming weeks.
