SHREVEPORT, La. — Centenary College of Louisiana will open a new center Sept. 17 designed to provide students with counseling, health services and assistance with basic needs in one location.
The Davis C.A.R.E. Center, which stands for Counseling, Assistance, Resources and Education, expands the college’s existing Counseling and Health Information office. The center will provide immediate assistance to students facing needs involving food, hygiene products, clothing, transportation and financial emergencies.
Students will also continue to have access to counseling and health services through the center. For needs requiring longer-term assistance, the center will connect students with community organizations and other resources.
The college said the center is intended to consolidate services in a single location and make it easier for students to seek assistance with both personal well-being and basic needs.
Centenary President Christopher Holoman and Jamie Wells, director of Counseling Services and Health Information, are scheduled to participate in the grand opening along with students, faculty, staff and community partners.
The grand opening is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 17 at Rotary Hall on Centenary’s Shreveport campus.
