(The Center Square) — A recent database outage at the Caddo Parish Tax Assessors Office affected both residents and city officials throughout the parish.
“It’s been affecting our ability to do property research,” Chief Administrative Officer Tom Dark told The Center Square. “Not sure what the situation is over there.”
While the systems are back up and running, according to employees at the assessors office, not much is known about what caused the outage in the first place.
Taxpayers throughout the parish were seeking information that was at the time unavailable. According to recent reports, information about homesteads, real estate, land ownership, and business personal property was inaccessible to the public, city officials, or the office.
The Center Square reached out to the Caddo Parish Assessor’s Office about why the systems were down. The office said there was nothing they could comment on at this time.
The Caddo Parish Assessor’s Office brought in a reported $5 million in 2024 tax collections, earning $100,000 in interest. The fund balance as of Jan. 1 is $11 million. The 2025 budget includes $1.4 million for insurance, $290,100 for office expenses, $297,975 for professional fees, $850,182 for equipment, $67,400 for postage, $111,200 for education and travel, $2.5 million for salaries and $300,000 for retirement contributions.
The total amount for 2025 expenditures is estimated at a little over $6 million.
