BOSSIER CITY, LA – Bossier Parish Community College’s Theatre Program is embracing immersive technology in its upcoming spring production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, utilizing advanced scenic projection mapping to offer audiences a dynamic and emotional journey through the mind of its neurodivergent protagonist.
Performances will take place in the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre on April 25–26 and May 2–3 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on April 27 and May 4 at 2:00 p.m. The theatre is located in Building C of BPCC’s campus at 6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City.
This spring production coincides with Autism Awareness Month, presenting a timely and powerful story centered on 15-year-old Christopher Boone—a teenager with remarkable mathematical talents and a unique view of the world. When he is accused of a neighbor’s dog’s death, his search for the truth becomes a deeply transformative journey.
“It’s an honor to be responsible for the lights and projections running smoothly,” said BPCC student Lucie McDearmont, who will operate the light board and projection system. “This role has challenged me creatively and technically, and I’ve loved seeing my ideas come to life on stage.”
The use of real-time scenic projection mapping will offer visual representations of Christopher’s internal thoughts and emotional experiences, creating a compelling visual narrative that deepens audience engagement. The show is directed by Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, who has championed the use of immersive technologies in theatre education.
Winner of the 2013 Tony Award® for Best Play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time not only offers a gripping storyline but also serves as a hands-on learning opportunity for BPCC students. From acting to costume design, lighting to sound, students take part in every aspect of the production, including modern digital stagecraft.
