Bossier Parish Community College has received the Heart of the Community Award from the Institute for Evidence-Based Change in recognition of the college’s work to build a campus environment centered on care and belonging. The award was presented during the 2025 Caring Campus National Conference in San Diego last week.
The honor recognizes institutions that demonstrate sustained commitment to student-centered practices and campuswide strategies that support engagement and success. BPCC’s selection reflects its efforts to integrate care, connection and support resources throughout academic and student services operations.
“We’re proud to be part of a national movement that places care and belonging at the heart of student success,” BPCC Chancellor Dr. Rick Bateman Jr. said. “This honor affirms the meaningful work our faculty and staff engage in every day to ensure students are seen, supported, and empowered to reach their goals. We believe that when students feel like they matter, they thrive, and this award reflects BPCC’s dedication to making that belief a reality.”
College officials said the Caring Campus initiatives have expanded access to resources, strengthened engagement and increased opportunities for student connection.
