BOSSIER CITY, La. – Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) has once again earned national recognition for its dedication to military-affiliated students, being named both a Top Ten Military Friendly® School and a Top Ten Military Friendly® Spouse School for the 2025-2026 academic year. The announcement marks the 15th consecutive year BPCC has received the Military Friendly® designation.
Among community colleges nationwide, BPCC ranked eighth in the small community college division and fourth for its military spouse support. The College’s Natchitoches and Sabine Valley campuses also received Military Friendly® Gold designation, highlighting the strength of BPCC’s system-wide commitment to military families.
“Bossier Parish Community College is a beacon of opportunity for our veterans, active-duty military, and their families,” said Dr. Rick Bateman, Jr., Chancellor of BPCC. “We don’t just provide an education—we provide a caring community dedicated to their success. To be nationally recognized for the 15th year in a row affirms our mission and motivates us to continue raising the bar.”
Much of BPCC’s success in serving military students is driven by its Veterans Resource Center (VRC), which opened in 2018 in partnership with Louisiana Tech University. Located on the Bossier campus, the center acts as a one-stop hub for academic and benefit-related support for active-duty members, veterans, Reservists, National Guard, spouses, and dependent children.
“We are so proud to serve our military community by offering them opportunities to earn credentials that will carry them beyond their military careers,” said Susan Stakes, Director of BPCC’s Veterans Resource Center. “The center is an inviting space where they can stay connected to benefits, resources, and comradery on campus.”
The Military Friendly® designation is awarded through a comprehensive evaluation using public data and survey responses from over 8,800 institutions. Rankings are determined by methodology developed with input from veterans, educators, and employers, and are published annually by G.I. Jobs magazine.
