Bossier City, LA – Bossier Parish Community College’s (BPCC) Division of Business and Information Technology (BIT) has announced significant expansions to its Nights, Online, and Weekends (NOW) initiative, offering more flexible class schedules and new resources to help students overcome challenges like transportation and availability.
Lyft Pass Initiative
One of the most innovative additions to the NOW initiative is the introduction of the Lyft Pass program, designed to address transportation barriers that may prevent students from attending in-person evening and weekend classes.
“During my recent meetings with students, many expressed significant concerns about the lack of public transportation options,” said Quentin Calhoun, Dean of Business and Information Technology. “Accessible solutions, like Lyft Pass, are essential for overcoming these barriers. The NOW initiative is making a real difference by ensuring that all students can attend in-person classes without the stress of transportation challenges.”
Expanded Course Offerings
The BIT Division has introduced several new courses and certifications to align with industry needs:
- Career and Technical Certificate in Customer Service:
- Courses include Customer Service Skills and Computer Concepts.
- Certifications offered: Microsoft Office Suite Industry-Based Credential, Internet and Computing Core Certification, and National Retail Federation Customer Service Credential.
- Partnerships with local restaurants, casinos, and retail businesses encourage employees to enroll and gain valuable skills.
- Career and Technical Certificate in Computer Repair:
- Courses include Info Technology Principles, Skills for IT Success, IT Hardware Support, and IT Software Support.
- Classes are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays to accommodate busy schedules.

- Business Math: Available to support the expanding demand for in-person learning options.
Enhanced Career Opportunities
These programs aim to prepare students for high-demand roles in customer service, IT, and other growing industries. By offering flexible learning schedules, practical certifications, and resources like Lyft Pass, BPCC is equipping students with tools to succeed professionally while balancing life’s demands.
