BOSSIER CITY, La. — Three Bossier Parish Community College staff and faculty members have completed the year-long Greater Shreveport Leadership Program, a professional development initiative led by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce.
The BPCC participants were Tiffany Sandifer, director of student life; Adam Dansby, director of business operations and finance; and Dr. Kirk Fontenot, associate professor of English in the Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
The program brings together leaders from across northwest Louisiana for monthly sessions focused on the region’s economy, workforce, nonprofit sector and civic priorities. Participants take part in tours, presentations and site visits highlighting key industries and community assets.
“Participating in Shreveport Leadership this year has been an incredible experience,” Dansby said. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow community leaders and gain deeper insight into our area’s remarkable industries, nonprofits, and support systems.”
As part of the program, Sandifer served as project chair for the class’ community betterment initiative, which supported Providence House. The class raised more than $11,000 for the nonprofit through a fundraiser held in early November.
“Serving as the project chair was an honor and a powerful reminder of what’s possible when leaders come together for a shared purpose,” Sandifer said.
Founded in 1977, the Greater Shreveport Leadership Program is designed to develop business and civic leaders with a deeper understanding of regional challenges and opportunities. The program accepts a limited number of participants each year and concludes with a collaborative service project benefiting a local nonprofit or cause.
BPCC officials said the college has a long history of participation in the program.
“Investing in leadership development is essential to the long-term success of both our institution and our region,” said BPCC Chancellor Dr. Rick Bateman Jr. “We commend our faculty and staff for their commitment to professional growth and community leadership.”
