Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) has wrapped up an extraordinary 2024–2025 academic year, one marked by record-breaking student achievement, national recognition, and deepened connections with the community it serves.
This year, BPCC celebrated 3,901 student completers—a 36% increase over last year and a historic high for the college. Dual enrollment also reached record levels, with 121 high school students earning 161 college credentials before graduation.
Healthcare programs continued to shine, with the BPCC Nursing Program ranked #1 in Louisiana for NCLEX pass rates (98.72%). Phlebotomy, Practical Nursing, and Medical Assistant programs reported perfect pass rates, while BPCC also became an official CNA testing site for the Louisiana Department of Health. Diagnostic Medical Sonography is one of BPCC’s newest allied health offerings but it is quickly becoming one of the college’s fastest growing programs.
Students found more support than ever before, thanks to initiatives like BPCC BookPASS, a new first-day textbook access program, and a partnership with BetterMynd, offering free 24/7 online therapy. Retention rates rose by more than 5%, reflecting a stronger commitment to student success.
BPCC’s excellence was celebrated across the country. The BPCC Debate Team won its sixth national championship, while the college’s signature student festival, CAVCHELLA, was named the Nation’s Top Student Event. In the arts, theatre students earned six Kennedy Center Meritorious Awards for their production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, while four graphic design students won “Addys” at the American Advertising Awards. Faculty and staff also earned distinction: ESL instructor Mark Hux was named the Coalition on Adult Basic Education’s (COABE) National Advocate of the Year, and counselor Emily Holloway achieved her LPC Supervisor Certification, allowing her to supervise graduate interns and expand BPCC’s Counselling Center.
BPCC continued to expand its role as a workforce leader, with a 29% increase in non-credit training completers and new partnerships across North Louisiana. Highlights included:
• Launching a CDL program in Natchitoches to meet high-demand workforce needs.
• A 2,200% growth in the Fiber Optics Technician program.
• Partnering with the Cyber Innovation Center to train U.S. Airmen in coding and data skills.
• Expanding correctional education at four institutions in the region.
The EMPWR LA program, developed with the North Louisiana Economic Partnership and 21 employers, now guarantees job interviews for graduates, reinforcing BPCC’s role as a driver of opportunity. The College also recently launched a new Water Treatment Operator program, training individuals for another high-wage-high demand opportunity.
For the 15th consecutive year, BPCC was named a Top Ten Military Friendly® School, and it remains the only Gold-Tier Governor’s Military & Veteran Friendly Campus in Louisiana. The college also honored veterans with a 1,000-flag tribute that raised funds for homeless veterans. For several years in a row, the BPCC Testing Center has been awarded the CLEP® Honors Military Achievement Award by the College Board. This national recognition is given to the top 20 CLEP Military Test Centers for administering the highest volumes of CLEP exams throughout the year.
Cavalier Athletics delivered both on the field and in the classroom. BPCC boasted a 98% student-athlete graduation rate for the second straight year, with 31 athletes earning NJCAA All-Academic honors. The BPCC Baseball Team claimed the 2025 Region XIV North Division Championship and ranked among the top 15 in the nation for GPA.
The BPCC Foundation reached record assets of $9.2 million, awarding more than $200,000 in scholarships with a 96% retention rate. New endowed scholarships were established, including the $50,000 Karen S. Moore Endowed Scholarship for First-Generation Students and the Juanita Epps Endowed Scholarship in Accounting & Finance. In total, BPCC secured $2.65 million in grants that directly benefited more than 700 students and launched new academic and workforce initiatives across the region.
This was a breakthrough year for BPCC. From record completions and national championships to new workforce partnerships and expanded support for students, our college continues to deliver on its mission of changing lives and strengthening our community. We are proud of what has been accomplished, and we are even more excited about what lies ahead.
