Bossier Parish is set to expand with several new residential and commercial developments as local officials take steps to accommodate the region’s increasing demand for housing and business opportunities. During the February 5th Regular Agenda Meeting, the Bossier Parish Police Jury approved public hearings for multiple zoning changes across nearly 400 acres of land, signaling significant growth for the community.
New Residential and Commercial Developments
Developers presented proposals to rezone large agricultural properties into residential and business districts. Among the proposed projects is a 125-acre residential subdivision in north Bossier, which would create more than 400 new housing lots. Additionally, plans for a new automobile and truck travel center, along with future commercial developments, were submitted for the Haughton area.
Jury President Doug Benton expressed enthusiasm about the parish’s continued growth, citing strong schools, thriving churches, and a supportive community as key factors attracting new residents and businesses.
“This is outstanding, and this is a great problem to solve,” Benton said. “I know the biggest issue we are facing at present is traffic, but we are working toward solutions that will address today’s traffic challenges while preparing for the future growth coming to Bossier Parish.”
New Sports Commission Appointment
In other business, the Jury appointed District 12 Juror Keith Sutton to the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Advisory Board, filling the unexpired term of Bob Brotherton, which runs through December 31, 2028.
Sutton, a longtime advocate for local athletics, acknowledged the impact of his predecessor and shared his vision for enhancing sports opportunities in northwest Louisiana.
“I have some big shoes to fill, and I am honored to be selected to serve on the advisory board,” said Sutton. “I have a love for sports and a passion for quality sporting events in our region, and I hope we can build on the legacy of Coach Brotherton to bring more major events to the area.”
With new housing, businesses, and leadership shaping the future of Bossier Parish, local officials remain focused on managing the region’s expansion while maintaining its strong sense of community.
