BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – Barksdale Air Force Base invites community members to an Air Installations Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) Open House on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bossier Parish Central Library (7204 Hutchison Dr., Bossier City, LA 71111).
Col. Michael Maginness, 2nd Bomb Wing commander, will provide opening remarks at the event. The AICUZ Program aims to protect the health and safety of those living near military airfields while also supporting the Air Force mission. It provides guidelines for land use in areas affected by aircraft noise and flight operations.
Since the last AICUZ study was completed in 2008, the surrounding community has seen significant changes in land use and population growth. The updated study provides recommendations to help local leaders plan future development in ways that are compatible with Barksdale’s ongoing operations.
Attendees of the open house will be able to explore informational displays and speak directly with Air Force staff about the study’s findings and implications. The event is designed to promote a deeper understanding of how local communities and the base can work together to ensure safety, reduce noise impact, and support sustainable development.
