SHREVEPORT, La. — The Shreveport Regional Arts Council will open its Artist Up Exhibition at Central ARTstation on Wednesday, October 22, at 6 p.m., showcasing the work of local artists who have completed the organization’s yearlong Artist Up entrepreneurial training program.
The exhibition will feature original artworks available for purchase, celebrating participants who have developed their skills in branding, marketing, and business development through the program. The initiative, led by Dallas-based curator and mixed media artist Lesli Marshall, is designed to help emerging artists build sustainable careers in the arts.
“This program is about building lives and livelihoods through creativity,” said Rebecca Bonnevier, executive director of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. “These artists deserve to be seen, celebrated, and compensated for their craft. They’ve done the hard work to grow as both artists and entrepreneurs—and this exhibition supports their launch into the creative economy, not just as participants, but as powerful contributors.”
The program is supported by a grant from The Noel Foundation, Inc. The event will be held at Central ARTstation, 801 Crockett Street in downtown Shreveport. Admission is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided.
Founded in 1976, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council serves as the official arts agency for the City of Shreveport and the State of Louisiana for Northwest Louisiana, supporting arts education and programming throughout the region.
