BATON ROUGE, La. — As the 2025 Louisiana Legislative Session concludes, the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) is celebrating a series of policy victories aimed at strengthening the state’s business climate, while also emphasizing that challenges and opportunities remain ahead.
Following the Legislature’s adjournment on Thursday, LABI President and CEO Will Green issued a statement applauding lawmakers and business leaders who worked to advance policies supporting long-term economic growth across the state.
“Last session, we laid the foundation for Louisiana to become a true economic powerhouse by rallying around a bold vision and turning that vision into real results through LA Driven,” said Green. “But we didn’t stop there. This session, LABI went full throttle to advance policies designed to make Louisiana a magnet for businesses and families seeking opportunity and growth.”
LABI pointed to significant gains in workforce alignment, civil justice reform, and infrastructure streamlining as indicators of meaningful progress. The organization praised legislators who supported measures to connect residents with high-wage, high-demand jobs and improve the efficiency of government agencies responsible for delivering infrastructure projects.
“We’ve championed long-overdue civil justice reforms that promote fairness and transparency while discouraging abusive lawsuits that enrich a few at the expense of many,” said Green. “And we’ve taken decisive steps to make government more effective.”
LABI also acknowledged the work of a wide coalition of business leaders and advocacy partners who helped amplify the voice of the business community during the session.
Still, the organization noted that not all efforts succeeded. Disagreements with some legislators and members of the administration stalled progress on a handful of priorities, and certain bills that LABI opposed advanced through the legislative process.
“Every time meaningful reform is shelved or damaging policies advance, we lose ground in the competition for investment, jobs, and innovation,” Green said. “Louisiana has world-class assets—natural resources, a skilled workforce, and real potential for growth. But unlocking that promise requires bold, business-minded leadership and a commitment to forward-thinking policy.”
Looking ahead, LABI will release its annual Legislative Scorecard this fall, providing a transparent overview of how lawmakers voted on key business-related issues.
