NEW ORLEANS — More than 400 workers’ compensation professionals from across the country gathered in New Orleans for the 2025 American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF) Annual Conference, hosted by LWCC, Louisiana’s largest workers’ compensation insurer.
The conference, held Oct. 11–14 at the New Orleans Marriott Downtown, marked AASCIF’s return to the city for the first time since 2007. The event emphasized collaboration, professional development, and innovation aimed at advancing how the industry serves businesses and injured workers.
“The AASCIF Conference is a flagship event in our industry, and we are honored to have brought the event back to New Orleans this year,” said Kristin W. Wall, LWCC president and CEO. “Hosting this event provided a chance for us to showcase Louisiana’s culture, hospitality and business leadership while highlighting the important work being done to support businesses and injured workers across the country.”
AASCIF President Terry Miller praised LWCC’s efforts, adding, “Special thanks to Kristin Wall and the LWCC team for their hospitality and dedication to our industry. Their leadership set the stage for a truly exceptional conference.”
The event featured member-led sessions, networking opportunities, and keynote presentations on leadership, technology, and purpose-driven business practices. Speakers included Harvard Business School professor Ranjay Gulati, who discussed developing everyday courage in leadership; Stanford researcher Dr. Jonathan H. Chen, who explored the role of artificial intelligence in the workplace; and author Julie Laperouse, who joined LWCC Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Seth Irby for an interactive session on turning ideas into action.
As part of the conference’s community outreach, AASCIF and LWCC coordinated a $10,000 donation to the Louisiana Bar Foundation’s Kids’ Chance Scholarship Program, which supports students whose parents were killed or permanently disabled in work-related accidents. Over two decades, 356 Louisiana students have received more than $975,000 in scholarships. Applications for 2026 open Dec. 1.
The 2026 AASCIF Annual Conference will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico. More information about LWCC is available at lwcc.com.
