Holiday Travel and Fuel Price Volatility
The modest decline in Shreveport contrasts with national trends, as gas prices in the Great Lakes region spiked due to price cycling and margin adjustments ahead of the holiday travel surge. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted the potential for prices to stabilize soon.
“With oil prices holding steady, gas prices may remain near current levels in the coming week,” De Haan said. “As families travel for the holidays, checking prices before filling up could save motorists 25 to 50 cents per gallon. This is a trend we anticipate will continue into 2025.”
