NATCHITOCHES, La. — Northwestern State University will offer an online Notary Public Exam Preparation course beginning Aug. 17 through its Office of Electronic Learning and Global Engagement.
The 52-hour course, offered in partnership with Louisiana State University Shreveport, is designed to prepare students for the Louisiana Notary Public examination. Attorney and notary Jennifer Brown will lead the course, which will be delivered through live online sessions via Zoom.
An early registration rate of $499 is available through July 28. Registration will remain open through Aug. 11 at a cost of $519.
Classes will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 15.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and have broadband internet access, a camera and audio capability. Students are also required to obtain the latest edition of The Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice, published by the Louisiana Secretary of State, along with the 2026 edition of Louisiana Notary Exam Sidepiece by Steven Alan Childress. Neither publication is included in the course fee.
The university said the course is intended to provide students with study materials and instruction covering the fundamentals of Louisiana notarial law in preparation for the state examination.
