SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport declined 3.7 cents per gallon over the past week, reaching $3.24 per gallon, according to a GasBuddy survey of 177 stations.
Prices in the city are down 29.9 cents compared with a month ago but remain 64.4 cents higher than the same time last year. The national average price of gasoline also fell, dropping 6.8 cents over the past week to $3.71 per gallon. National prices are 41.3 cents lower than a month ago but 62.7 cents higher year over year.
Diesel prices saw a sharper weekly decline, with the national average falling 11.8 cents to $4.758 per gallon.
Within Shreveport, price variation remains significant. The lowest-priced station was reported at $3.00 per gallon, while the highest reached $3.69, a spread of 69 cents. Across Louisiana, the lowest price reported was $2.89 per gallon and the highest $4.99, a difference of $2.10.
Regional comparisons showed mixed movement. Prices in Little Rock averaged $3.31 per gallon, down 4.2 cents from the previous week. Dallas posted an increase of 4.9 cents to $3.17 per gallon, while the statewide average in Louisiana fell 1.8 cents to $3.39 per gallon.
Historical data indicates current prices remain below the highs seen in recent years. On July 6, 2022, Shreveport gasoline averaged $4.22 per gallon, compared with $3.00 in 2023, $2.94 in 2024 and $2.60 in 2025.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said fuel prices declined across most states in the past week, with diesel falling nationwide. He noted that the national average around the July 4 holiday was among the highest on record for the date but remained below peak levels reached in 2022.
De Haan said global supply pressures continue to limit further declines in fuel prices, citing refinery disruptions linked to geopolitical tensions. He added that until refining capacity improves, additional significant decreases at the pump may be constrained.
GasBuddy compiles its data from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations nationwide.
