BOSSIER CITY, La. — Louisiana officials will mark the completion of a $128 million Interstate 20 rehabilitation project in northwest Louisiana with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for June 22.
Gov. Jeff Landry, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Glenn Ledet Jr., local elected officials and community stakeholders are expected to attend the event at Bicentennial Park in Bossier City.
The project represents one of the largest recent infrastructure investments along the I-20 corridor, according to state transportation officials. Work included the reconstruction of approximately 3.5 miles of interstate and associated ramps at five interchanges in Bossier City, stretching from near Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive.
In addition to the interstate rebuild, the project included extensive concrete pavement repairs on sections of I-20 in Shreveport, drainage improvements, installation of new overhead signage, upgrades to roadway lighting systems, construction of barrier walls and headlight glare screens, and new pavement striping and reflective roadway markings.
Transportation officials said the improvements are intended to enhance safety, traffic flow and long-term reliability along a key transportation corridor serving the Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area and the broader northwest Louisiana region.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bicentennial Park, located at 100 John Wesley Blvd. in Bossier City.
The completion of the project concludes a major infrastructure initiative aimed at modernizing a heavily traveled section of interstate that serves both regional commuters and commercial freight traffic.
