SHREVEPORT, La. — The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a free Men’s Health and PTSD Awareness Event later this month aimed at promoting physical wellness, mental health awareness and preventative healthcare among men.
The event is scheduled for June 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Ave. in Shreveport. Lunch will be provided.
Organizers said the program is designed to encourage healthy lifestyles while educating participants about stress management and the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. Attendees will learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of stress and trauma, explore available support resources and gain practical strategies to improve overall well-being.
The event will feature Tarrant Graham, a certified fitness trainer and licensed professional counselor, who will discuss the relationship between physical activity and mental wellness. Participants will also take part in a low-impact fitness demonstration focused on healthy approaches to managing stress and trauma through exercise.
According to the sheriff’s office, a key goal of the event is to reduce the stigma surrounding conversations about mental health and encourage men to seek assistance when needed.
The event is open to men of all ages. Additional information is available from Deputy V. Williams at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
