LAKE CHARLES, La. — Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance announced the expansion of its annual LegisGator event into a three-day statewide conference focused on public policy, business and economic development.
The conference is scheduled for Aug. 19-21 at L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles and will be presented in partnership with Leaders for a Better Louisiana and Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
Organizers said the expanded format is designed to bring together business leaders, policymakers, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, higher education representatives and economic development professionals from across Louisiana.
The conference schedule includes the LABI Policy Forum on Aug. 19, Better Louisiana’s Future Louisiana Conference on Aug. 20 and the 21st Annual LegisGator Luncheon on Aug. 21.
Scott Walker, president and chief executive officer of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, said growing interest in LegisGator prompted the expansion into a multi-day event.
“LegisGator has continued to grow each year, with a waiting list of people interested in participating,” Walker said. “This year’s multi-day schedule is in response to this strong interest and reflects the growing importance of bringing together leaders from business, government, education and community organizations to address the issues shaping Louisiana’s future.”
The LABI Policy Forum will examine issues emerging from the 2026 Louisiana Legislative Session, including insurance reform, energy and workforce development. LABI President and CEO Will Green said the partnership creates an opportunity to build momentum around policies supporting business investment and job creation.
The Future Louisiana Conference will feature speakers and policy discussions focused on community development, education, energy and workforce issues, with organizers highlighting strategies and economic development models from outside Louisiana.
Adam Knapp, CEO of Better Louisiana, said the conference aims to encourage practical solutions and collaboration among leaders statewide.
The annual LegisGator Luncheon will conclude the conference on Aug. 21, bringing together elected officials and business leaders while recognizing lawmakers who supported pro-business and economic growth initiatives.
Organizers said the conference comes as Louisiana communities face workforce shortages, infrastructure demands and increased competition for talent and business investment. Registration and sponsorship opportunities are currently available.
