BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. (AP) — Explosive Ordnance Disposal Airmen assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base will conduct multiple controlled detonations Thursday as part of planned demolition operations.
The detonations are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 14, according to a media advisory issued by the base.
Residents in the surrounding community may hear loud noises during the operations. Base officials said the activities are pre-planned, professionally executed and do not pose a threat to public safety.
The operations are being carried out by the 2nd Bomb Wing’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit as part of routine demolition activities.
The 2nd Bomb Wing Public Affairs Office said community understanding is appreciated during the scheduled operations.
