SHREVEPORT, La. — The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office said mailing delays involving the U.S. Postal Service affected notices of court appearances dated between March 30 and May 8.
According to the office, records show the notices were submitted to the Postal Service on time, but some envelopes received delayed postmarks that resulted in late delivery.
The District Attorney’s Office said it is taking remedial steps to protect defendants’ due process rights in cases where a failure to appear may have resulted from notices not arriving before scheduled court dates.
Individuals who received or may receive a notice to appear after the listed court date are being advised to contact the District Attorney’s Office at (318) 226-6826 immediately.
