SHREVEPORT, La. — North Louisiana’s largest day of philanthropy, Give For Good, returns May 5 with nearly 250 participating nonprofits and a fundraising goal of $2.8 million, organizers said.
The annual online giving event, hosted by the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, has raised nearly $25 million in unrestricted funding for local nonprofits since its launch in 2014. Last year’s event generated $2.53 million from more than 4,300 donors.
Give For Good provides participating organizations with individual online donation pages where they can present their missions, programs and funding needs. Donors can browse and contribute to nonprofits by category or location through the platform.
A key feature of the event is the Lagniappe Fund, a bonus pool exceeding $260,000 that proportionally increases donations made to participating nonprofits. Organizations are also eligible for additional prize incentives during the event.
The minimum donation is $10, and contributions are tax deductible. There is no cost for nonprofits to participate, and the foundation does not retain any portion of donations.
“We are proud to sponsor Give For Good in our community for the 13th year,” said Kristi Gustavson, chief executive officer of the Community Foundation of North Louisiana. “Give For Good day is always exciting and energizing as we watch the donation total grow and hear from our local nonprofit organizations about the programs and the people who will benefit from this community support.”
Organizers said local businesses will also support the effort by hosting events and donating portions of their sales on May 5.
Early giving opened April 21, with the main event scheduled for May 5.
