BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart said it will remodel 20 stores across Louisiana in 2026 as part of a broader effort to modernize operations and expand its retail footprint in the state.
The planned upgrades are part of a nationwide initiative that includes more than 650 remodels of Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets this year. The company said it has invested $618.9 million in Louisiana over the past five years to improve store infrastructure.
The remodels will focus on updated store layouts, expanded product assortments and enhanced technology aimed at improving both in-store and online shopping experiences. Walmart said many locations will offer faster fulfillment options, including delivery within hours for most customers.
Enhancements will also include expanded services such as pharmacy delivery for Walmart+ members and upgraded mobile app features designed to help customers navigate stores and schedule services.
Company officials said store upgrades are expected to generate construction-related activity and support long-term employment across retail, pharmacy and management roles.
In addition to retail investments, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation reported $29.1 million in donations to Louisiana nonprofits over the past year, including the distribution of 14.5 million pounds of food. The company recently launched its annual Fight Hunger, Spark Change campaign, which supports food banks through donations and qualifying purchases.
Remodel projects are scheduled throughout the year at locations including Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Monroe and Thibodaux, among others.
Walmart said the investments are part of a long-term strategy to strengthen store operations, improve customer experience and support community development across Louisiana.
