The Bossier Parish Police Jury addressed a full agenda during its regular meeting Wednesday, taking up matters related to property standards, zoning, and parish infrastructure while hearing a presentation on a new arena football team.
Property Standards Enforcement
Jurors reviewed several properties cited for unsafe structures, excessive debris, and poor maintenance. Owners showing measurable progress were granted 30-day extensions to complete improvements. Properties without response or evidence of cleanup were approved for formal condemnation.
Louisiana Rouxgaroux Arena Football Team Presentation
Representatives from the Louisiana Rouxgaroux Arena Football Team, including owner Keith Carter and general manager Steve Walton, presented plans for the team to host home games at Brookshire Grocery Arena. The presentation outlined league operations, player recruitment, and expected community and economic benefits. The discussion was informational, and no action was required.
Zoning and Land Use Actions
The Jury considered several zoning and development requests, including a proposal to rezone a property from Residential Agriculture (RA) to General Business (B-2) for a self-service ice vending machine. Public hearings scheduled for March 18, 2026, will address additional zoning matters, including a conditional use request for off-premises alcohol sales at the Super S convenience store and a zoning change of a 9.6-acre tract from RA to B-3 for office, warehouse, and retail development.
Administrative and Infrastructure Matters
Annual liquor license renewals were approved following verification by the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office and parish health units. Variance requests involving below-grade construction were granted after engineering review, and the streets and drainage system in Canal Place Unit 5 were accepted into the parish road maintenance program.
The Jury approved funding and change orders for ongoing water, sewer, and library projects, and accepted grant administration services for federal Department of Transportation applications. Members also adopted a resolution supporting a BUILD grant tied to the East-West Corridor initiative.
Jurors acknowledged recent annexations filed by neighboring municipalities and called an election to renew the Benton Fire District No. 4 special tax. A $1.5 million campground grant was also approved to promote recreation and tourism in the parish.
