BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Northwest Louisiana Military Support Foundation and local businesses last week to deliver holiday cookies to more than 1,500 military members across the region.
Volunteers gathered Thursday to assemble more than 6,000 cookies into gift bags ahead of Friday’s deliveries. The cookies were donated by Margaritaville Resort Casino, Boomtown Casino, Live! Casino & Hotel, The Wooden Spoon, Sugar Sheaux and Jason’s Deli.
The annual effort brings together military families, veterans, community partners and supporters to deliver a seasonal gesture of appreciation to service members stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base and other military facilities in northwest Louisiana. The Bossier Chamber and the Northwest Louisiana Military Support Foundation have partnered on the cookie deliveries for several years.
“This holiday season, those serving our nation far from home were met with kind gestures and support from a caring community,” said Krista Augustson, military relations liaison at the Bossier Chamber. “The joy and surprise on their faces when we delivered cookies was unforgettable, a great reminder that even small acts of kindness can bring people together and make the community bond even stronger.”
Cookie deliveries were made to Barksdale Air Force Base, an Army Reserve unit, National Guard units and the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home.
