BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier Parish Community College will hold Winter Workforce Day on December 18, offering one-day training options for high school students, recent graduates and community members interested in earning industry-recognized credentials or exploring career paths.
The event includes both hands-on and online courses. Grow with Google: AI Essentials is a free, self-paced online program introducing participants to generative artificial intelligence tools and concepts. The course takes about four hours to complete and provides an AI literacy credential. Participants who need access to a campus computer must apply and enroll at least 24 hours before the event to activate their college login.
BPCC will offer the National Safety Council’s forklift operator certification on the Bossier and Natchitoches campuses from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The $100 course covers OSHA standards, equipment inspection, load handling and hazard awareness, and includes hands-on work with industrial lift equipment. Participants must be at least 18 years old and wear closed-toe shoes.
The NC3 Snap-on precision measuring instruments course will take place on the Bossier campus from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The $75 session introduces measurement standards used in technical and manufacturing fields and provides experience with tapes, rules and calipers. Participants earn the NC3 PMI 1 certification and must wear closed-toe shoes.
BPCC will offer HeartSaver CPR and AED training on the Bossier campus from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for $65. The course covers CPR, AED operation, choking response, basic first aid and recognition of heart attack and stroke symptoms. Participants earn a HeartSaver CPR/AED certification.
BPCC officials said the event is intended to provide productive opportunities during winter break and strengthen résumés or college applications through short-term skill training.
