SHREVEPORT, La. — The Greater Shreveport Chamber has named Ruth Moseley Norton, partner at Heard, McElroy & Vestal, LLC, as the region’s fifty-seventh ATHENA International Leadership Award recipient. She was recognized at the 35th Annual ATHENA Leadership Award Luncheon, presented by Ochsner LSU Health, on Nov. 13.
“Each year, the ATHENA Award Luncheon gives us the opportunity to celebrate individuals whose leadership, vision, and mentorship strengthen our community,” said Dr. Timothy Magner, president of the Greater Shreveport Chamber. “Ruth exemplifies the spirit of ATHENA through her professional excellence, dedication to service, and unwavering commitment to empowering others.”
Norton is a certified public accountant and holds the Certified in Financial Forensics credential. She joined Heard, McElroy & Vestal after 25 years as founder and leader of Norton & Associates CPAs, LLC. She has chaired the Louisiana Society of CPAs Forensics, Valuation, and Litigation Services Committee and serves as an AICPA CFF Champion.
In addition to her professional work, Norton serves on the boards of the R.W. Norton Art Foundation and Friends of Safety Town and is a former board member of The Robinson Film Center. She is a past volunteer EMT and youth softball coach and is active in mentoring emerging leaders.

The ATHENA International Leadership Award honors individuals who achieve professional excellence, contribute to improving quality of life for others, and support opportunities for women. Since the program began in 1982, more than 8,000 leaders in more than 500 communities worldwide have been recognized.
Founded in 1910, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce promotes economic prosperity, advocates for business, and highlights regional achievement. The chamber has more than 1,300 members and is designated as a 5-Star Accredited Chamber by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
