SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport rose 4.3 cents per gallon over the past week, reaching $2.48 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations across the area.
Prices in Shreveport are 6.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and nearly 13 cents lower than a year ago. The cheapest local station reported $2.29 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive reached $3.19, a 90-cent range. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $2.18 to $3.45 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline increased 4.8 cents per gallon last week to $3.03. The U.S. average is 4 cents lower than a month ago and less than one cent higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel rose 6.5 cents to $3.73 per gallon.
Nearby markets also saw price increases. Little Rock averaged $2.59 per gallon, up 13.2 cents from last week, while Dallas rose 16.3 cents to $2.59. Louisiana’s statewide average edged up 0.9 cents to $2.53.
“The national average price of gasoline edged higher last week, with the vast majority of states seeing prices climb,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Refinery issues in the Great Lakes and West Coast have kept prices elevated, and gasoline inventory data from the government showed another large weekly drop in supplies, which has temporarily propped up prices.”
De Haan added that potential travel disruptions ahead of Thanksgiving could affect short-term gasoline demand and limit near-term declines.
Historical data show that Shreveport drivers paid $2.61 per gallon on Nov. 10, 2024, compared with $3.03 nationally. Ten years ago, prices averaged $1.98 per gallon locally and $2.21 nationally.
