SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport rose 9.1 cents per gallon over the past week to an average of $2.60 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations in the area. Prices remain 11.6 cents lower than a month ago but 6.3 cents higher than a year ago.
Across Louisiana, the average price increased 2.9 cents to $2.69 per gallon. The lowest price in the state was $2.34 per gallon, while the highest reached $3.79, a difference of $1.45 per gallon. Within Shreveport, prices ranged from $2.39 to $2.99 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell 0.3 cents last week to $3.08 per gallon. That is 10.8 cents lower than a month ago and 4.7 cents below the average from a year earlier. The national average price of diesel rose 1.1 cents to $3.66 per gallon.
Neighboring metro areas saw mixed changes. Prices in Little Rock fell 3.9 cents to $2.63 per gallon, while Dallas drivers faced a sharp increase of 31.5 cents to $2.90 per gallon.
“While the national average slipped slightly over the last week, it’s once again been a mixed bag depending on where you fill up,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Gas prices cycled upward in Ohio and Michigan, declined in Indiana and Delaware, and pain is about to return to California and neighboring states following last week’s refinery fire outside Los Angeles.”
De Haan added that although OPEC agreed over the weekend to boost oil production for November, regional variations continue to shape price trends. “Though the damage from the fire appears limited, the West Coast is likely to see prices climb, while most other areas can expect relative stability or slight declines,” he said.
According to GasBuddy, Shreveport’s average price a year ago was $3.09 per gallon. Ten years ago, drivers paid about $2.02 per gallon.
GasBuddy compiles data from more than 150,000 stations nationwide and updates its survey 288 times daily.
