SHREVEPORT, La. — The Robinson Film Center is introducing a new monthly event series called Reel Vibez, designed to combine film, music, and immersive community experiences. The first event is scheduled for Thursday, August 15, featuring a pajama-themed party and screening of the 1991 hip-hop comedy House Party 2.
The kickoff event, DJ & a Movie presents House Party 2, will include a live DJ set by Hot Boy Yoshi, RFC’s Resident Soundtrack Curator and well-known local performance artist. Guests are encouraged to wear their best “Pajama Jammy Jam” outfits to match the theme of the film.
The evening will unfold as follows:
- 6:00 p.m. – Doors open with themed cocktails and mocktails
- 6:30–7:30 p.m. – DJ set by Hot Boy Yoshi with music inspired by the House Party 2 soundtrack
- 7:30 p.m. – Screening of House Party 2 in RFC’s Theater 2
Tickets include one themed drink, access to the cocktail hour with Hot Boy Yoshi, and admission to the screening. RFC plans for Reel Vibez to become a monthly tradition, each event celebrating a culturally significant film alongside curated music and community-focused programming.
“Reel Vibez is about bringing people together for movies in a way that feels alive, connected, and vibrant,” said RFC Events Director Jana Forrest. “Hot Boy Yoshi has been an amazing collaborator for this project because like us he has a passion for film, and he brings that cinematic flair to all the work that he does.”
House Party 2, starring Kid ‘n Play, follows the duo as they transition from neighborhood life to college, combining comedy, music, and high-energy dance scenes. The film runs 1 hour and 59 minutes and is rated R.
