SHREVEPORT, La. — Drivers across the Shreveport-Bossier region are getting some welcome relief at the pump just in time for the July 4 holiday. According to GasBuddy’s latest survey of 177 stations in Shreveport, the average price of gasoline has fallen 7.7 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $2.67/gallon.
While prices are still 3.2 cents higher than a month ago, they remain 17.2 cents lower than this time last year. The cheapest gas in Shreveport was reported at $2.38/g, with the highest at $3.19/g, marking an 81-cent swing between stations.
Diesel prices, on the other hand, have ticked up slightly. The national average for diesel rose 2.7 cents over the past week to $3.676/gallon.
GasBuddy also released its 2025 Independence Day forecast, projecting the national average will fall to $3.15/gallon on July 4 — the lowest July 4 average since 2021, and nearly 35 cents lower than last year’s holiday price.
“The national average price of gasoline has resumed its decline, with falling prices driven by easing tensions in the Middle East—just weeks after those same tensions had pushed prices higher,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Relief could expand as the holiday weekend approaches.”
De Haan also noted that if tensions remain contained and the U.S. avoids a major hurricane, the national average could dip below $3/gallon later this summer.
