Indivisible North LA and 10,000 Women Louisiana Invite Public to Share Concerns on Federal Policy, Representation
Shreveport, La. — Two Louisiana-based grassroots organizations, Indivisible North LA and 10,000 Women Louisiana, will host a congressional town hall meeting on Tuesday, May 6, in Shreveport to provide a platform for citizens to voice their concerns on national issues and the role of the state’s federal representatives.
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grace Community Methodist Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road. The town hall will feature a public comment format, allowing attendees to speak for up to two minutes on topics including healthcare, Social Security, veteran services, education, and concerns about the influence of emerging technology and political figures.
“We’re hearing a lot of concerns from citizens—including seniors, Medicaid recipients, and veterans—but not much response from our representatives,” said Kathy Ragsdale, a volunteer with Indivisible North LA. “If our local Members of Congress don’t attend, we’ll move forward with an ‘empty chair’ approach.”
While invitations have been extended to Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy and Speaker Mike Johnson, organizers say the event will proceed regardless of attendance by federal officials.
“These are real people with real stories,” said Melissa Flournoy, Board Chair of 10,000 Women Louisiana. “This isn’t about staged activism—it’s about civic responsibility and the right to be heard.”
