The Louisiana National Guard officially announced the upcoming stationing of the 178th Cyber Protection Team at the Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) in Bossier City during a press conference held Thursday, April 10.
The event, hosted at the CIC headquarters on East Texas Street, featured remarks from state Sen. Adam Bass, Maj. Gen. Thomas Friloux, adjutant general of Louisiana, and Kevin Nolten, president of the Cyber Innovation Center. The move, set to take place in June 2025, represents a significant investment in the state’s cybersecurity infrastructure and positions Bossier City as a key player in national cyber defense efforts.
Maj. Gen. Friloux emphasized the strategic importance of the relocation, highlighting how it strengthens the Louisiana National Guard’s capabilities while deepening partnerships with military, industry, and education sectors.

Stationing the team at the Cyber Innovation Center places them at the heart of the National Cyber Research Park, alongside top-tier cyber education, research, and training resources.
The decision is expected to boost collaboration between the Louisiana National Guard, the Cyber Innovation Center, and regional stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, private industry, and academic institutions. It also reinforces Bossier City’s emerging role as a regional cybersecurity hub, supporting both national defense initiatives and local workforce development.
