BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry is reminding voters that Saturday, March 29 is Election Day for the Municipal Primary Election. As residents across the state prepare to cast their ballots, the Secretary of State’s office is providing key deadlines and helpful resources to ensure a smooth voting process.
Key Reminders:
- Absentee Ballot Request Deadline:
Voters (excluding military and overseas) must request an absentee ballot by 4:30 p.m. on March 25. Requests can be made online through the Voter Portal or in writing through their parish Registrar of Voters Office. - Absentee Ballot Return Deadline:
Completed absentee ballots must be received by the Registrar of Voters by 4:30 p.m. on March 28 (excluding military and overseas voters). - Mail Delivery Notice:
Absentee voters using the U.S. Postal Service are encouraged to allow extra time for delivery due to unpredictable mail speeds. - Polling Hours on Election Day:
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on March 29. Voters in line at 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote. - Polling Locations & Sample Ballots:
Voters can find their polling location and view sample ballots by downloading the GeauxVote Mobile app or by logging into the Voter Portal at www.GeauxVote.com. - Voter ID Requirements:
Voters must bring a valid photo ID, such as a Louisiana driver’s license, Special ID card, a recognized photo ID with name and signature (e.g., passport), or a digital license via LA Wallet. - Election Results:
Real-time election results will be available via the GeauxVote Mobile app and the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.la.gov.
