Looking Ahead: Market Uncertainty and Seasonal Increases
While prices have remained relatively steady, industry experts caution that external factors could drive fluctuations in the coming weeks.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, highlighted several key issues impacting fuel prices, including:
- Potential economic uncertainty from proposed tariffs by the Trump administration
- Ongoing geopolitical instability, particularly surrounding Russia and Ukraine
- OPEC’s plans to stabilize global oil markets
“Forecasting fuel prices remains challenging as uncertainty lingers over the timing and scope of potential tariffs, which could soon take effect,” De Haan noted. “While OPEC has signaled its intent to stabilize the market, White House policy decisions may introduce further volatility, making price predictions difficult.”
Additionally, historical trends indicate a seasonal increase in fuel prices during the spring, potentially leading to higher prices heading into summer.
