SHREVEPORT, La. – Gas prices in Shreveport have continued to decline, falling by an average of 6.3 cents per gallon over the past week, according to GasBuddy’s latest survey of 177 stations in the area. The average price now stands at $2.54 per gallon, reflecting a 5.3-cent drop from a month ago and 23.6 cents lower than this time last year.
The report highlights a 36-cent per gallon price gap between the lowest and highest gas stations in Shreveport. The cheapest station recorded was selling gas for $2.43 per gallon, while the most expensive was $2.79 per gallon. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from a low of $2.34 per gallon to a high of $3.26 per gallon.
National Trends
The national average price of gasoline has also seen a decline, dropping 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week to an average of $3.08 per gallon. The national diesel price, however, saw a slight increase of 1.6 cents, averaging $3.648 per gallon.
Neighboring cities saw mixed price movements:
- Little Rock: $2.73 per gallon (down 3.9 cents from last week).
- Dallas: $2.68 per gallon (down 11.9 cents from last week).
- Louisiana Statewide Average: $2.64 per gallon (down 2.7 cents from last week).
Looking Ahead
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that while some regions are experiencing stability or slight declines, the annual transition to summer gasoline blends could soon impact prices.
“With the sharp gas price increases on the West Coast now fading, the national average has dipped slightly over the past week,” De Haan said. “Oil prices have remained steady in the low $70s, but we continue to monitor key developments, including ongoing talks between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine. While I don’t see an abrupt spike in the national average just yet, we’re likely to see upward movement in the weeks ahead.”
