SHREVEPORT, LA – The Prize Foundation is ringing in the 2025 Prize season with a celebratory kickoff party at Remington Garage (211 Market St) on Tuesday, January 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This free community event will spotlight the start of the 14th annual Louisiana Film Prize competition and the final phase of the third annual Golden Lens Photography Competition, setting the stage for a groundbreaking year of creativity and collaboration.
Celebrating the Louisiana Film Prize
The evening will begin with the launch of Louisiana Film Prize 2025, a premier short film competition that attracts filmmakers from across the country to create projects in Caddo Parish. With a $50,000 grand prize—the largest cash prize for a narrative short film—the competition continues to elevate Shreveport as a hub for independent cinema. Aspiring filmmakers, actors, crew members, and industry enthusiasts are invited to attend and learn how to participate in this transformative competition.
Golden Lens Photography Competition: Final Phase
The event will also showcase the photography exhibition and final voting for the third annual Golden Lens Photography Competition, presented by the Prize Foundation and BPCC. Last October, photographers from across the nation captured the essence of downtown Shreveport-Bossier City during Prize Fest. Attendees at the kickoff party will have the opportunity to view these works and cast their votes for the Audience Choice Award until 7:00 p.m. Winners will be announced later in the evening.
A Toast to Creativity and Community
“It’s always exciting to be able to raise a glass and toast Shreveport and Bossier’s burgeoning creative community,” said Gregory Kallenberg, founder of the Prize Foundation and the Louisiana Film Prize. “It’s kind of a homecoming for filmmakers and photographers. We are really looking forward to a great year and a raucous start to 2025!”
The event will feature free Prize swag, a cash bar, and the return of Taco Wars favorite El Eden Taqueria, selling their renowned tacos. It’s a chance for creatives and art enthusiasts to celebrate the talent, innovation, and collaboration that define the Prize Foundation’s mission.
