Nonprofits: In support of virtual learning, BancorpSouth provides $10,000 Grant to Providence House

by BIZ Magazine

Providence House has been awarded a $10,000 grant from BancorpSouth Bank (NYSE: BXS) that will allow the nonprofit to provide virtual learning experiences for its residents and the community it serves.

BancorpSouth has chosen Providence House as a recipient of one of their recent grants to aid in Providence House’s urgent need to provide necessary equipment for virtual learning experiences. The contribution comes at a critical time as the school system has outlined a hybrid model that will allow up to 100 percent of learning to occur virtually.

Providence House has made tremendous strides in the education department for its residents and local community. Through a workforce development partnership with Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC), the agency is currently offering job skills training courses for adults to continue their education in order to secure higher paying jobs. The efforts towards early childhood education is the most important component of programming. Providence House Child Development Center (CDC) is the only 4-STAR CDC facility in Caddo Parish; there are two head start programs with the same rating by the Louisiana Department of Education.

Adam Sistrunk, BancorpSouth president – Northwest Louisiana division, said the work being done at the residential facility for homeless families with children to further the education of its residents and low-income community members is valuable and should not go unrecognized.

“We are proud to support Providence House’s valuable work to help educate individuals in our community,” he said. “We sincerely value its mission and are honored to advance its efforts to reach our community’s most vulnerable. It is crucial to give back and create economic opportunities for those in need, especially during these challenging times.”
