WASHINGTON, D.C. – In honor of the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, a National Day of Observance has been declared for Thursday, January 9, 2025. The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced adjustments to its operations to mark the solemn occasion.
USPS Operational Changes
On January 9, 2025, USPS will:
- Suspend regular mail deliveries and retail services.
- Pause activity at administrative offices, including headquarters in Washington, D.C., as well as area and district offices.
- Continue to accept and process commercial mail volume at mail processing facilities.
- Provide limited package delivery service to avoid disruptions to customers and business partners.
Regular operations will resume on Friday, January 10, 2025.
