BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier Parish Community College and Louisiana Tech University have established an agreement outlining six transfer pathways for students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in education, psychology and related fields.
The Education Pathway Partnership Agreement, now in effect, identifies courses Louisiana Tech will accept from designated BPCC associate degree programs. Louisiana Tech advisors will work directly with BPCC students to review transcripts and determine how their credits apply toward a bachelor’s degree.
The pathways connect BPCC programs with degrees in Louisiana Tech’s College of Education and Human Sciences:
- Associate of Arts with a Louisiana Transfer social sciences concentration to a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
- Associate of Arts with a Louisiana Transfer social sciences concentration to a bachelor’s degree in human development and family science.
- Associate of Science in general science with a natural science concentration to a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health sciences.
- Associate of Science in Teaching, grades 1-5, to a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
- Associate of General Studies to a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a biology concentration.
- Associate of General Studies to a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a social studies concentration.
“This partnership is designed to serve students even better by easing the transfer process and providing necessary support as students pursue their bachelor’s degree at Tech,” Louisiana Tech Provost Donna Thomas said.
Thomas said the College of Education and Human Sciences is the university’s fastest-growing college.
The agreement also establishes collaboration among deans from both institutions, including opportunities for special events, advisory board service and professional development workshops for students, faculty and staff.
