RUSTON, La. — G. Carlton Golden Jr., chairman of Builders Supply, will discuss business culture, investment strategy and government regulation during Louisiana Tech University’s “Inside the C-Suite” series Oct. 28.
The event begins at 4 p.m. in Davis Auditorium, Room 101 of the College of Business, and is open to the public.
Golden will join College of Business Dean Chris Martin for a moderated discussion titled “Culture, Capital, and Capitol Hill: C-Suite Lessons on Survival and Growth.” Topics will include sustaining organizational culture, making investment and expansion decisions, and navigating government policy and regulation.
Golden joined Builders Supply full time after earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Louisiana Tech in 1985. A fourth-generation leader of the family business, he became its fourth president in 2009. The company traces its history to 1913.
Under Golden’s leadership, Builders Supply expanded its regional presence. It serves commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects throughout Northwest and Central Louisiana.
Golden also is a former national chairman of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. His other leadership roles have included positions with the Interstate 49 International Coalition, the Shreveport and Bossier chambers of commerce, and regional economic development organizations.
“We want our students to understand not only the challenges business leaders face but how they think through complex issues, weigh competing interests, and make decisions when there are no easy answers,” Martin said.
The university’s “Inside the C-Suite” series connects students with senior corporate executives to discuss business decisions, leadership and emerging challenges.
