SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport fell 15.4 cents per gallon over the past week to $3.70 Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations.
The local average was 24.8 cents lower than a month ago but remained $1.24 higher than a year ago. Shreveport’s weekly decline outpaced both the Louisiana and national averages.
Louisiana’s average fell 9 cents to $3.81 per gallon, while the national average dropped 5.5 cents to $4.24. Nationwide, gasoline prices were down 23 cents from a month ago but remained $1.26 above year-ago levels.
Diesel prices moved in the opposite direction. The national average rose 5.2 cents over the week to $6.30 per gallon.
GasBuddy reported Shreveport station prices ranging from $3.55 to $3.99 per gallon Sunday, a spread of 44 cents. Across Louisiana, reported prices ranged from $3.39 to $5.29.
Among nearby markets, Dallas averaged $3.59 per gallon, down 14.7 cents over the week. Little Rock averaged $3.81, a decline of 5.9 cents.
“Average gasoline prices declined in the vast majority of states over the last week, led by a combination of state fuel tax suspensions and price-cycling markets working their way back down, while diesel rose in most states, though the largest diesel decline was driven by a state tax suspension,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“For now, the outlook remains tied to geopolitical developments, and some price-cycling states could see upward swings in the days ahead if oil markets firm at all,” De Haan said.
Shreveport’s average on Oct. 19 last year was $2.46 per gallon. On the same date in previous years, the average was $2.62 in 2024, $2.90 in 2023, $3.28 in 2022 and $3.04 in 2021.
GasBuddy compiles its national figures from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 stations.
