(The Center Square) – The Shreveport City Council introduced Mayor Tom Arceneaux’s 2027 budget Tuesday alongside proposed new pay raises for police and fire employees that would go into effect Dec. 1 if approved.
The proposed 2027 budget includes about $606.2 million in operating spending and includes $46 million in new projects linked to airports, SporTran and streets.
Arceneaux’s plan calls for using building permit revenue from data centers to initially help fund the increases for police and fire. The city would eventually shift to recurring revenue sources to upkeep the raises in future budgets.
The council did not debate the budget proposals.
After the clerk finished introducing the package, council members voted to table the ordinances until Dec. 8, ahead of the Dec. 15 deadline for final adoption.
