SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport edged higher over the past week, reaching $3.86 per gallon Monday, Oct. 12, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations.
The local average rose 1.9 cents per gallon from the previous week and is 4.9 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, Shreveport motorists are paying $1.37 more per gallon.
Shreveport’s average remains 43 cents below the national average of $4.29 per gallon and 4 cents below Louisiana’s statewide average of $3.90.
Prices varied substantially among local stations. GasBuddy reported that Shreveport’s lowest price Sunday was $3.68 per gallon, while the highest was $4.29, a spread of 61 cents. Across Louisiana, reported prices ranged from $3.49 to $4.99 per gallon.
Nationally, gasoline prices slipped 0.4 cents per gallon over the past week. The U.S. average is 0.4 cents higher than a month ago and $1.28 higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy’s compilation of more than 11 million weekly price reports.
The national diesel average fell 5.9 cents over the week to approximately $6.25 per gallon.
“More states saw average gasoline prices decline than rise over the last week, with diesel falling approximately 5 cents per gallon nationally,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
De Haan said updates on two refineries in Hurricane Isaias’ path could affect the fuel supply outlook in the coming days.
“For now, the trend is cautiously in the right direction for motorists, but between hurricane season and continued geopolitical uncertainty, it is far too early to declare the pressure on fuel prices resolved,” he said.
Regional prices showed mixed movement. Dallas averaged $3.73 per gallon after a weekly decline of 19.2 cents. Little Rock’s average slipped 0.4 cents to $3.87, while Louisiana’s average increased 0.3 cents to $3.90.
Shreveport’s current average is also above the prices GasBuddy recorded on Oct. 12 in each of the previous five years. Those averages ranged from $2.49 per gallon in 2025 to $3.37 in 2022.
