SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport rose 11.2 cents per gallon over the past week to $3.69 per gallon Tuesday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 177 stations in the area.
Prices are 25.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 98.6 cents higher than a year ago.
GasBuddy reported that Shreveport prices ranged from $3.51 to $3.99 per gallon Monday, a difference of 48 cents. Across Louisiana, reported prices ranged from $3.33 to $4.65 per gallon, a spread of $1.32.
The national average for gasoline increased 2.2 cents over the past week to $4.09 per gallon. That is 10.6 cents higher than a month ago and 90.8 cents higher than a year ago. GasBuddy said its national figures are compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 stations.
Diesel prices posted a sharper increase. The national average for diesel climbed 29.7 cents from a week ago to $5.867 per gallon.
“Average gasoline prices rose in nearly three out of five states over the last week, while diesel surged in every state — with some climbing nearly 50 cents per gallon in just seven days,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
De Haan said the national gasoline average on Labor Day surpassed the previous holiday record of $3.83 per gallon set in 2012. He also said the national diesel average reached $5.87 per gallon Sept. 3, topping the previous record of $5.82 set in 2022.
GasBuddy’s historical data show Shreveport gasoline averaged $2.70 per gallon on Sept. 8, 2025, compared with a national average of $3.18. Shreveport’s average was $2.63 in 2024, $3.18 in 2023, $3.10 in 2022 and $2.73 in 2021.
Among nearby markets, Little Rock averaged $3.70 per gallon, up 5.7 cents from the previous week, while Dallas averaged $3.57, down 12.7 cents. Louisiana’s statewide average was $3.75, an increase of 10.2 cents from a week earlier.
