SHREVEPORT, La. – June 13, 2024 – CenterPoint Energy has awarded over $230,000 in grants this year through its Community Safety Grant program, benefiting communities in Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, and Texas. These grants, distributed among more than 90 projects, are aimed at enhancing safety-related equipment and initiatives in local communities.

“Safety is our foremost priority, guiding our mission to provide reliable energy to the customers and communities we serve,” said June Deadrick, Vice President of Community Relations at CenterPoint Energy. “Our Community Safety Grant Program supports the invaluable work of emergency responders, local officials, and other community members dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of our customers.”

The Community Safety Grant program offers grants of up to $2,500 to help local communities address safety-related issues. Communities served by CenterPoint Energy can apply for these grants by detailing their specific safety concerns and how the grant can address those needs.

Since its inception in 2003, the Community Safety Grant program has funded over 1,600 safety-related projects and awarded more than $3.25 million in grants across CenterPoint Energy’s six-state service area. These funds have supported a variety of safety initiatives, including the installation of public AEDs (automated external defibrillators), upgrading emergency communication equipment, purchasing personal protective equipment for first responders, installing traffic control signs, and acquiring gas monitoring devices.
